The truth about the Corrupted Stone

The King of the Slaughter had finished building the Ziggurat in the swamps many months ago, and had used it as a strategic position.  However, anyone who worked on the lower levels of the Ziggurat he had killed.  He empted the ziggurat and took a few close guards with him, including his best man, and descended to its depths to perform the ritual.  He believed he would now be able to bring Saressa back to him.  He reached a room that contained an altar.  There before them the horrific demon appeared and killed all of the guards save one.  He ordered the King of the Slaughter to willing kill his best friend to show his true willingness and allegiance to the Chained God Anathema, also known as Tharizdun.  His friend tried to talk him out of it.  He reminded the King of the Slaughter of his true name, Shammath, and told him he was slipping into madness.  An intense brawl followed where the guard Filak almost overcame Shammath, but in his hesitation to harm his friend, Shammath slew him.  The King of the Slaughter laid his fallen friend on the altar ready to perform the ritual.  But the demon then pushed the body out of the way and laid the dragonborn leader on the altar.

A horrific ritual followed where he killed the willing warlord and harvested his heart.  The dragonborn’s heart is one of the six hearts of Tharizdun, bound to the world, and continually pulsing to give him power in the mortal realm.
